I just finished Sarah Dessen's What Happened to Goodbye. I LOVE SARAH DESSEN. Reading This Lullaby was what really started my YA renaissance about 5 years ago. I quickly burned through everything she'd ever written, and hers are definitely amongst the books that I will pay full-price for on release day. She never lets me down. Reading a Sarah Dessen book is the novel equivalent of crawling into your favorite chair with your favorite blanket. It's like reading in a big hug. It's comfortable and familiar and you never want to leave her world.
WHTG quickly became one of my favorites (though The Truth About Forever still holds the top spot!). From Sarah's site:
Since her parents’ bitter divorce, McLean and her dad, a restaurant consultant, have been on the move-four towns in two years. Estranged from her mother and her mother’s new family, McLean has followed her dad in leaving the unhappy past behind. And each new place gives her a chance to try out a new persona: from cheerleader to drama diva. But now, for the first time, McLean discovers a desire to stay in one place and just be herself, whoever that is. Perhaps Dave, the guy next door, can help her find out.So to celebrate the joy that is turning in your very first novel, I'd like to give away a book by an author who made me want to write YA in the first place. If you'd like a copy of What Happened to Goodbye, simply leave a comment and tell me who your favorite YA author is, or if you're a writer, which author inspired you to do what you do!
You can also get bonus entries for following this blog, becoming a fan on Facebook, and tweeting about the giveaway. You can use this (or be creative!):
Win a copy of @sarahdessen's What Happened to Goodbye from @laurenemorrill
That's four opportunities to win! Make sure you include your bonus entries in your comment. I'll randomly draw a winner on June 1.
Oh, and because I'm such a Kindle enthusiast ... If you win, I'll give you the option of receiving a digital edition via Amazon (and then I'll keep my snazzy hardcover!).
Thanks for celebrating with me!
